The Saver Spot

One roundup a week. Written on Sunday night, posted Monday.

About

Renata · central Ohio · since 2019

I am Renata. I use my first name because this is a hobby and I do not want it attached to my work life. That is the whole reason, and I would rather say it than let people guess at something more interesting.

The site is one post a week. I write it on Sunday evening from the receipts and the notebook, and post it Monday morning. When I miss a week, it stays missed — there is a gap in the archive from this spring for exactly that reason.

Where the numbers come from

Two shops, four miles apart, in central Ohio: a regional chain and a discount grocer. Everything in the price book is a price I saw on a shelf or paid at a till, dated. I do not aggregate circular data from other regions and I do not republish other people’s deal lists.

What this site is not

  • Not a coupon feed. Coupons expire faster than I post.
  • Not a frugality philosophy. I am not going to tell you to give up coffee.
  • Not sponsored. No affiliate links, no samples, no arrangement with any shop. If a shop ever gave me anything I would say so in the post it affected, at the top.
  • Not advice about money generally. Groceries and household goods, and that is the extent of what I know about.

Why there is no newsletter

Because I would then have a list of addresses to look after, and I do not want one. The site posts on the same day every week; that is as much of a reminder as I can offer.

Corrections

When I get a price wrong I fix it in the roundup and note the change in the next week’s post, as with the apples in 08/24/2026. The price book carries its own correction log at the bottom.

The notebook

A ruled A5 with a rubber band round it. Seven years, four of them full. It has been rained on twice and is the only backup.

Household

Two adults, one teenager who eats like three. Prices and quantities here assume that, and scale badly to a single person.
